At the highest levels of dog agility, precision, timing, and preparation make champions.

For Trisha Koetter, owner of Flying Feet Agility Dog Training Center, those principles apply just as much off the course as they do on it.

With more than 30 years of experience training dogs and competing in dog sports, Trisha knows what it takes to perform under pressure. She’s competed at the highest levels of the sport, including the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

"Like any other competitive sport, dog agility requires dedication to both learning and staying current with the sport, as well as physical and mental fitness for both handler and dog," she says.

Today, she brings that same discipline and attention to detail to running Flying Feet Agility, an AKC and CPE approved dog training center offering structured classes in obedience and competitive agility. Her story is a perfect example of how Acuity Scheduling, the Official Scheduling Partner of the Westminster Kennel Club, helps serious operators bring order to even the most spirited schedules.

Class scheduling with precision and purpose

Flying Feet Agility offers a range of group class series, from beginner obedience to competition-level agility. Each class brings together multiple dog and handler teams, each with different experience levels, learning styles, and needs.

“Each dog and handler team is unique in their individual needs,” Trisha explains. “When running a group class you have multiple teams with different skills and abilities you take into consideration and help in different ways.”

That complexity requires structure. Classes are capped, expectations are clearly set, and safety is non-negotiable. Before ever stepping into a group setting, clients must confirm key information about their dog via client intake forms, including temperament requirements.

Running this kind of program successfully means staying organized long before the first class begins.

My philosophy has always been to teach and train teams to the best of my ability at a high level. That doesn’t mean that everyone will or even has an interest in competing, but it’s still in the best interest of both the dogs and handlers to learn the sport correctly. It’s a sport of learning to communicate with our dogs, and clear communication builds a healthy trusting relationship and confidence.

A need for flexibility, even while on the road

Like many trainers competing and continuing their education, Trisha spends time traveling for competitions and training. That made traditional, paper-based administration increasingly difficult to manage.

“I travel a lot for competitions and training and needed a way to do administrative tasks remotely while away from the facility,” she says.

Acuity Scheduling gave Flying Feet a centralized system to manage bookings, registration, and payments from anywhere. Whether Trisha is on-site or on the road, she can see who is enrolled, what classes are filling, and where follow-up is needed.

Structuring dog training classes for long-term growth

For clients, the experience starts online and ends in prizes. Flying Feet uses Acuity with their Squarespace website to seamlessly display class types, pricing, policies, and real-time availability.

"It all starts with a Beginner Obedience group class,” Trisha explains. “In the final week, week 7, the teams participate in a 'mini' competition and are scored on their performance of behaviors taught in the class. There are prizes given for the highest scoring teams. Some people are bitten by the competitive bug and others realize the joy of learning to communicate with their canine partner and seeing how much they can learn!"

Interested clients can book an entire class series, complete required registration information, and submit payment in a single booking flow. There’s no back-and-forth over emails, no separate paperwork, and no confusion about what comes next.

Running a more efficient business without the admin overload

Handling booking, registration details, and payments in one place has significantly reduced administrative work at Flying Feet.

“It is a great time saver,” Trisha says. “It’s greatly beneficial to be able to look up and see who has signed up and who needs a reminder for regular returning clients.”

With Acuity, Flying Feet sends automated registration confirmations and weekly class reminders, helping clients stay on track and improving attendance across multi-week series.

“For clients, it also simplifies their registration process, and the reminder emails for each weekly class improve attendance” she adds. “The registration confirmation emails are very helpful for returning clients as well so they can check to see if they’ve registered for upcoming classes.”

For Trisha, that means less time managing logistics and more time focused on training, teaching, and building strong handler-dog relationships.

Clear impact for trainers and clients alike

Since adopting Acuity, Flying Feet has seen meaningful improvements in both organization and efficiency.

“On my end, it’s a tremendous benefit in time saved, organization, and no paper trail to fumble through,” Trisha says.

Clients benefit from the same clarity. They can easily confirm registrations, review class details, and manage their own appointments without needing to reach out for manual help. Plus, clear signals like “2 spots left” help drive urgency to book when new classes are popular.

“This is very helpful to get people to sign up early as they realize classes are filling,” Trisha notes.

The result is a smoother experience from first signup through the final class.

A scheduling “game changer” from day one

For others considering scheduling software for pet services and more, Trisha points out that Acuity’s value becomes clear quickly.

“Truly right from the beginning,” she emphasizes.

It is a bit of a learning curve to make the move from paper to electronic, but after just a few sessions to get the hang of how it works, it is a game changer! I love Acuity and my website on Squarespace!

For businesses running group classes, limited-capacity sessions, or multi-week programs, having a system that keeps everything moving smoothly can make all the difference.

Built for moments that matter

Whether preparing for a local class series or competing on a national stage like Westminster, success comes down to preparation, clarity, and timing.

Acuity Scheduling helps businesses like Flying Feet Agility stay organized, communicate clearly with clients, and reclaim time that would otherwise be lost to manual admin. It’s scheduling that works in the background, automating tasks that slow you down so you can deliver a service that earns top marks.
