Turning support for visual artists into scheduled service

For Pamplemousse Magazine Founder and Editor Nora Lalle, publishing is just one part of a much bigger mission: uplifting and supporting the photography community. What began as a San Francisco–based print magazine dedicated to film photography has grown into a multidimensional creative platform, complete with personalized consulting services.

“We’re a biannual print publication dedicated to showcasing artists who use film photography in compelling ways,” says Nora. “Our mission is to support photographers and encourage emerging artists to create. The magazine and our events provide inspiration and resources to anyone interested in film photography, and we have a huge focus on building community.”

That community focus led Nora and the editorial team to launch tailored consultations, offering direct support to visual artists seeking guidance, mentorship, and strategic insight for their creative pursuits. “We are dedicated to fostering talent and contributing to the personal and professional development of artists at all stages of their careers,” Nora adds.

But with a new service came a new challenge: how to manage bookings, client intake, and payments, without sacrificing precious time. That’s where Acuity came in.

“Acuity Scheduling had all of the features we needed to make booking consultations easy for clients,” Nora shares. “It integrated seamlessly with our existing website and helped us get this offering up and running quickly.”

Before Acuity, handling scheduling manually would have meant juggling emails, forms, calendars, and payments across platforms. With Acuity, everything lives in one simple flow.

“One main challenge was having the information, calendar, and payment method all in the same place, with few steps for clients. Acuity Scheduling has features that made this very easy to set up.”

Through a single booking page, clients can schedule a 1-hour consultation, submit payment, and fill out a detailed pre-meeting questionnaire to help the team tailor the session to their needs—no back-and-forth required.

“Acuity is more than just a booking software. We could include a questionnaire and capture important information from clients, as well as offer the services of multiple members of our team all in one place.”

Flexible scheduling tools built for busy professionals

With consulting demand growing, Pamplemousse’s editorial team needed a solution that could flex with their busy schedules and keep them focused on meaningful work, not admin.

“Instead of having to manage emails and meeting requests from multiple channels, we can streamline everything,” says Nora. “We can set availability and easily change it on the day to day or week to week, and have a simple link to share with potential clients. It helps us give our community access to our talented editorial team, but on our terms.”

That simplicity supports both the team behind the scenes and the photographers who reach out, building meaningful connections without adding stress.

“Once someone lands on our website, Acuity is right there and makes it easy for people to book and pay for consulting, without having to dig through search results or leave our site.”

Fostering a talented community, one booking at a time

As the team continues to support photographers with one-on-one guidance—from exhibition curation to portfolio reviews and creative direction—Acuity helps them stay on track and deliver a truly individualized experience for each client.

“The user experience is quite intuitive and the calendar flexibility has made it easy to set availability across our team. Also, the customizable pre-meeting questionnaire is a huge plus.”

What started as a bonus offering has grown into a core opportunity to maximize their impact, and a clear path to growth for Pamplemousse.

“Adding consulting to our services has allowed us to expand into a new part of the industry. It makes it so easy for a simple conversation to turn into a booking and bring in money to support the project. As more and more people start to book, Acuity will be essential in keeping the team organized.”

“Value your time and believe in what you have to offer.”

When asked what she’d share with other photographers or creative consultants considering booking software, Nora is quick to encourage action: “It’s worth putting the idea out there and investing in a good system because you never know how it will help your business grow! Value your time and believe in what you have to offer.”

And for anyone still weighing their options?

Acuity makes it really easy to keep track of bookings, update availability and save time! The way it integrates into an existing website makes it a no-brainer.
